LivCom Awards Begin: Focus on Innovative Sustainable Development

The opening ceremony for the 23rd International Awards for Liveable Communities (LivCom Awards) Finals & Forum took place yesterday evening, in which Steven Hartman, Founding Executive Director of UNESCO-MOST BRIDGES gave a video address. The 2025 LivCom Awards Finals are being held in Avcilar, Istanbul, Türkiye and are running from November 18–21, 2025. The Opening Ceremony & Welcome Gala Dinner officially kicked off the competition and forum. It also served as a welcome event for the delegates. The forum is a major international platform for sharing best practices in local environmental management and sustainable development, co-organised with support from UN-Habitat and other UN agencies.

LivCom Awards: Global Recognition for Liveable Communities

The International Awards for Liveable Communities (LivCom Awards), launched in 1997, is a major, UN-backed competition recognising international best practices in local environmental management and development. BRIDGES is delighted to have recently welcomed LivCom Awards as Coalition Members. The LivCom Awards Finals 2025 is taking place in Avcilar Istanbul, Türkiye from 18-21 November, 2025. Steven Hartman will be sharing comments via video, at the LivCom Awards opening ceremony, as Founding Executive Director of the BRIDGES Coalition in UNESCO's Management of Social Transformations (MOST) programme.

Today's inspiring and informative 'WIN Talks, From policy to practice: The Well-being of Future Generations Act in action', brought together the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, Derek Walker, Professor Martin Johnes, and Professor Luci Attala to explore how Wales is advancing the vision of the Well-being of Future Generations Act and how research communities can strengthen its impact. Together, the speakers demonstrated how Wales is driving forward a unique model of research-informed, future-oriented governance and how academic partnerships are helping to turn the Act’s ambitions into lived practice.
