BRIDGES International Programme Office

The IPO is the BRIDGES Directorate’s administrative office. The IPO’s main function is to liaise on a regular basis with the UNESCO-MOST Secretariat in Paris and to keep the public informed of the work of BRIDGES.

Other duties include the gathering and preparation of background materials required by MOST, supporting the organisation of the General Assembly, the General Council, conferences and events with MOST and to collect, collate and distribute information across the Coalition, the Hubs and to UNESCO.

The Directorate and the IPO work closely together. The IPO is supported by Senior Administrators, a Communications Manager and Research and Policy Officers.

    Chief Executive Office of the BRIDGES Coalition. Works closely with UNESCO and the MOST intergovernmental programme to steer the strategic direction and development of BRIDGES.

Expanding the BRIDGES Global Coalition: New Regional Programme Office Opens in India

The BRIDGES Directorate is delighted to announce the approval, confirmed at the recent Governing Council Meeting on 26 June 2026, of the establishment of a Regional Programme Office (RPO) for South Asia, located in Gift City, Gujarat, India, to be hosted by the TryfactaEDU Global Foundation. The BRIDGES Directorate and International Programme Office (IPO) at University of Wales Trinity Saint David will work closely with the Foundation to facilitate the establishment of the RPO, marking a significant expansion of the Coalition’s presence in the region.

2026 IDSSD Global Conference

The 2026 Global Conference of the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (IDSSD, 2024-2033) will take place from 15–17 July 2026 at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. As part of our commitment to the Decade, BRIDGES’ Founding Executive Director Steven Hartman will contribute to a session at the Global Conference which will focus on the critical contributions of social and human sciences to sustainable development and the science-policy nexus.

BRIDGES Helps Shape Landmark Living Teifi Partnership Bridging Science, Culture and Community Knowledge: Initial £1.4M Grant Launches Flagship 'Teifi Fyw' Project with a Long-Term Vision for £10M Socio-Ecological Investment

UNESCO-MOST BRIDGES is delighted to announce our involvement in the landmark Teifi Fyw — Pobl a Natur gyda'i gilydd / Living Teifi — People and Nature Together partnership, an ambitious initiative bringing together scientific, cultural, community and humanities-based approaches to support the long-term flourishing of the Afon Teifi — one of Wales’s most ecologically and culturally significant river systems.

Humanities-Driven Sustainability: BRIDGES Coalition Formulates Future Policy Frameworks

Sigtuna, Sweden: A global delegation of experts and sustainability advocates recently gathered at the Sigtuna Foundation to bridge the critical gap between humanities-based insights and international public policy. From 12 to 14 May 2026, the UNESCO-MOST BRIDGES Coalition convened a series of intensive consultative workshops aimed at refining how human-centred knowledge can drive global action.
