The 2026 Global Conference of the International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (IDSSD, 2024-2033) will take place from 15–17 July 2026 at the UNESCO Headquarters in Paris. As part of our commitment to the Decade, BRIDGES’ Founding Executive Director Steven Hartman will contribute to a session at the Global Conference which will focus on the critical contributions of social and human sciences to sustainable development and the science-policy nexus.

In a visionary presentation at the 'It’s Your Swansea 2026' event, Prof Luci Attala, Deputy Executive Director of BRIDGES and Director of the UK Hub at UWTSD, introduced the 'Biome', an ambitious project set to transform the former Woolworths building - more recently known as the old Poundland site - on Oxford Street. This initiative aims to establish the UK’s first deep biophilic retrofit, turning a central urban space into a hub for sustainable living.
