UNESCO-MOST BRIDGES is pleased to share the UNESCO AI for Environment and Ecosystems Toolkit for Policymakers that was launched in the last week of April, 2026, by UNESCO.
Together with colleagues in the UNESCO-MOST BRIDGES Coalition Governing Council, Peter Schlosser and Erika Marion Robrahn Gonzalez, BRIDGES Executive Director, Steven Hartman, had the pleasure of contributing to the development of the toolkit, which began with a session and expert consultation at last year's Third Global Forum on the Ethics of AI in Bangkok.
BRIDGES would like to express thanks and appreciation to all those who led this project at UNESCO - Constanza Gomez Mont, Camilo Sarmiento Lozano, Irakli Khodeli, together all their colleagues at UNESCO's Ethics of Artificial Intelligence Unit - and to Carlo Angeles of C Minds and all the expert contributors who made this toolkit possible.
Funded by The Patrick J. McGovern Foundation through the Scaling Inclusive, Human Rights-Based Ethical AI Governance project, the AI for Environment and Ecosystems Toolkit for Policymakers is an important contribution to the ever vital work begun in 2021 with the publication of UNESCO's Recommendation on the Ethics of Artificial Intelligence the first-ever global standard on AI ethics.
