The BRIDGES Coalition has officially published our Strategy Document for 2026–2028, marking a pivotal milestone in our ongoing collaborative mission with the UNESCO Management of Social Transformations (MOST) Programme.
This comprehensive roadmap serves as both a reflection of the Coalition’s core principles and a bold step forward in the evolution of global sustainability efforts. By bridging the gap between academic research and localised action, the 2026–2028 strategy reinforces a shared vision for community-led, humanities-rooted, transdisciplinary sustainability science.
Strengthening the Vision
The updated strategy arrives at a critical juncture for global climate and social policy. It moves beyond traditional top-down models, instead outlining a clear, actionable path for advancing equitable and culturally grounded solutions to the world’s most pressing challenges.
Key pillars of the strategy include:
• Transdisciplinary Innovation: Integrating the humanities, social sciences, and local arts with environmental science to create a holistic understanding of sustainability.
• Community-Led Action: Prioritising indigenous, local, traditional, youth, and community knowledge systems to ensure solutions are effective and respected on the ground. This transdisciplinary approach ensures that the path forward is paved by those who understand the localised issues best and those who will inherit the future.
• Equitable Frameworks: Establishing protocols that ensure marginalised voices are at the centre of the sustainability discourse.
A Future Built on Partnership
The publication of this document is a collaborative pathway to action for our global coalition and strategic partners. We commit to achieving these high-level goals through innovative collaboration and the cultivation of meaningful partnerships.
The path to 2028 is paved with continuous mutual learning and collective growth. As the BRIDGES Coalition move into this new phase, the focus remains steadfast: ensuring that the science of sustainability is as diverse and resilient as the communities it serves.
