“Climate Justice & Nature-Based Solutions - From Local Roots to Global Impact" Visual Report

Following the landmark July 2025 International Court of Justice (ICJ) Advisory Opinion, which transformed climate action from a political choice into a binding legal imperative, Coalition members, the Climate Hub Forum (CHF) convened by Erum Khan and Aamir Sadozai, partnered with PMAS-Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi to host a High-Level Policy Dialogue, on 4 August 2025.

The Seminar: “Climate Justice & Nature-Based Solutions - From Local Roots to Global Impact"

Framed by the ICJ’s ruling, the dialogue addressed the intersection of climate justice and nature-based solutions, gathering a unique assembly of experts, notably including "Nature" as the CEO of Earth and a Living Shareholder of the Planetary System.

Founding Executive Director of UNESCO-MOST BRIDGES, Steven Hartman, attending the seminar, discussed bridging the gap between scientific knowledge and actionable policy; advocating for the integration of humanities, arts, and indigenous knowledge to ensure solutions remain socially inclusive and culturally rooted.

The Visual Report Summary

The subsequent report outlines a strategic roadmap for translating these new legal frameworks into practical sustainability science, including:

  • Executive Reflection & Policy requirements: Analysing the ICJ ruling’s impact on global liability and the necessity of local-to-global policy integration.
  • Dialogue in Action: Capturing exchanges on community-driven networks, "People's Power”, placing youth empowerment and innovation at the centre, and global connectivity in driving environmental change.
  • Outcomes & Call to Action: Detailing tangible policy goals, reparations frameworks for vulnerable communities, and a roadmap for implementing nature-based solutions.

In alignment with its mission to bridge socially inclusive, culturally rooted, humanities-anchored solutions and global policy, BRIDGES supports CHF’s efforts to translate new legal frameworks into actionable sustainability science.
