Animals in Latin American History - A General Panorama of Critters and Processes

In this workshop, which will happen just before the 12th symposium of the Lartin American and Caribbean Society for Environmental History, SOLCHA, a group of scholars will discuss short versions of chapters for an edited volume on the place of animals in Latin American history.

'The aim of the WAAS@65 online conference is to develop concrete measures to address the root causes of the unprecedented global challenges and turbulence threatening peace, stability, human security, and sustainable development. The conference will critically examine these challenges, identify their fundamental origins, formulate actionable strategies for their resolution, and explore the potential catalytic role of the World Academy of Art and Science (WAAS) and its partner organizations in this endeavour.'

Bridging Futures: Connecting Today's Decisions to Tomorrow's Needs

The Bridging Futures event aims to inspire system change and foster holistic, ethically driven, future-oriented leadership. The day promises a vibrant showcase of the coalition's global impact and will culminate in the inaugural Bridging Futures Distinguished Public Lecture, delivered by Phan Thị Kim Phúc (Kim), UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador and global peace advocate. Co-sponsored by the UNESCO-MOST BRIDGES Coalition, The Wales Future Generations Commissioner, the University of Wales Trinity Saint David and Arizona State University Julie Ann Wrigley Global Futures Laboratory; Bridging Futures is grounded in a visionary and pragmatic core rationale, namely, to address the urgency and opportunity of this moment in history by connecting generations, sectors and ways of thinking to shape a more just, sustainable and compassionate future.

MESH Master Class: on Disaster Preparedness in Multispecies Worlds How do we, scholars and creative writers, write about disasters in multispecies worlds? How do we move between fieldwork and fiction? In connection with the 2025 MESH symposium on Disaster Preparedness in Multispecies Worlds, we organize a writing workshop associating field observations and creative writing, as a masterclass with Thom van Dooren, Mariagrazia Portera, Heidi Bayoumy, and Burak Sezer.
