The University of Cologne recently awarded research prizes to excellent researchers from the natural and life sciences, the humanities, economics and social sciences.
“Sharing a Planet in Peril” (SAPP) member Thomas Widlok received the Leo-Spitzer Prize, which is awarded for outstanding academic achievements in the arts, humanities and human sciences.
“The University of Cologne is convinced that scientific progress is based on the scientific excellence of individual researchers, which should therefore be particularly promoted and recognized. I congratulate the award-winning researchers and would like to thank them for their outstanding work”, says Professor Dr Joybrato Mukherjee, Rector of the University of Cologne.
Note: Sharing a Planet in Peril is a flagship project of the UNESCO-MOST BRIDGES University of Cologne Hub for Planetary Wellbeing. Bringing together researchers from the University of Cologne’s Global South Studies Center and Multidisciplinary Environmental Studies in the Humanities with a wide network of international partners, SAPP advances actionable knowledge concerning the socio-cultural dimensions of Global Environmental Change from an Environmental Humanities and Social Sciences perspective.
