Climate Change and History Research Initiative (CCHRI) updates
Relocation to St Andrews: After 12 years based at Princeton University, CCHRI's primary research base is moving to the University of St Andrews in Scotland to join a new, UK government and university-funded centre (GRC).
New International Hub Structure: To expand its network, CCHRI is establishing several regional hubs led by core team members, including locations at St Andrews, Basel, Bielefeld, and Georgetown.
Ongoing Princeton Presence: A CCHRI presence will be maintained at Princeton under the leadership of Emmanuel Kreike to continue hosting events.
Past Events Recap:
• The 6th final meeting of the CCHRI-DAI-ANAMED network on socio-ecological approaches in Anatolian history, held in Istanbul (November 2025).
• Highlights from the 7th Intensive Introductory Workshop on Palaeosciences for Historians and Archaeologists (January 2026).
2026 Annual Colloquium: Took place on 15–17 June 2026 at Nicolaus Copernicus University in Toruń, Poland, focusing on "Cultural-biological co-evolution and climate change in the Holocene".
Upcoming Workshops: Announcement of an upcoming workshop on pathogen paleogenetics and past societies led by Tim Newfield.
