New Planetary Well-being Hub established in Cologne, Germany

The Cologne Hub is a Thematic Hub focusing on PLANETARY WELL-BEING: HEALTHY PEOPLE, RESILIENT COMMUNITIES, RECOVERING ECOLOGIES.

This hub will be led by two leading research institutions at the University of Cologne (UoC): the research hub for Multidisciplinary Environmental Studies in the Humanities (MESH) and the Global South Studies Center (GSSC).The Cologne hub addresses the intersections between the SDGs related to Good Health and Wellbeing (3), Quality Education (4), Sustainable Cities and Communities (11) and Life on Land (15). It brings a cross-cultural, multispecies, and humanities-led approach to the further development of the “one health” concept. Building on our existing expertise in Global South studies this hub will focus on developing collaborative research and participatory approaches in North-South-South eco-humanities interventions in order to re-evaluate and localize concepts and methodologies connected to the SDGs. As such, the UoC BRIDGES Hub for Planetary Well-Being would be a counterpart to the existing thematic hub at CUNY-Princeton on Past Socio-environmental Change and Resilience.
