Event Details

The annual flagship event of UNESCO’s Management of Social Transformations (MOST) Programme, will be taking place on 22 September, 2025, in Pretoria, South Africa.

The MOST Forum gathers leading experts for cutting-edge intellectual debates on the biggest challenges and solutions in social development.

The world is currently facing a set of severe, interconnected challenges, including deepening inequalities, the climate emergency, rapid digital disruption, and widespread socio-political instability. These crises fundamentally threaten sustainable and inclusive development globally.

Despite some advances, gaps in global policies, institutions, and knowledge systems persist, allowing disparities to grow. This situation urgently demands a more unified, science-informed, and people-centred strategy for progress.

To meet this need, the MOST Forum serves as UNESCO's global platform dedicated to fostering solutions-oriented dialogue at the critical juncture of science, policy, and social transformation.

This annual event convenes ministers, policy-makers, academics, and civil society leaders from around the world. They share insights and work towards effective strategies to:

  • Reshape governance.

  • Foster global solidarity.

  • Build fairer societies.

The Forum is a core activity of UNESCO's Management of Social Transformations (MOST) Programme, which anchors the BRIDGES Coalition in UNESCO, and focuses on strengthening the link between social science research and policy-making to create more inclusive and sustainable communities.
