Event Details

In this workshop, which will happen just before the 12th symposium of the Lartin American and Caribbean Society for Environmental History, SOLCHA, a group of scholars will discuss short versions of chapters for an edited volume on the place of animals in Latin American history.

This book seeks to produce the first general overview on the topic and thus become a reference for years to come. The chapters are centered on key topics and processes, developed around at least two different species, two different places and two historical moments. Rather than a collection of case studies, this initiative uses a few examples to think about long-term processes.

This workshop is organised by Silke Hensel (University of Cologne), Claudia Leal (Universidad de los Andes / University of Cologne)
